My first impression and absolute good impression of Zero One Space comes from this is a high-tech company that established Branch in Chongqing. Rocket launch is undoubtedly the most complex and hard-core science, which makes my hometown flourish. In interviews with the media, Shu Chang talked about the big dream of rockets as a manned vehicle. Every time I heard him say this, my pupils dilated. Now, people who are pursuing a leisure trip or an intense adventure experience may You can only go to volcanoes or the bottom of the sea. In the future, a trip to space without gravity will really be considered as leaving the surface of the earth.

Shu Chang studied aircraft design at Beihang University, and his graduate student studied economics at Peking University Guanghua. During his studies, Shu Chang has always been an energetic serial entrepreneur: he has been a food delivery platform, an international student education, a summer camp for middle school students, and a bookstore. After starting a business, Shu Changxiao made a fortune and learned a lot of lessons. However, after all, it is a small project in the student era, and it is not an ideal goal. “You can get it when you stand up. It’s not called a target. You have to run faster, rush up and jump up to reach, then it is called a target. I have been looking for such a target, Something Different, Something Big.”

After graduating, Shu Chang spent several years in the Aerospace Industry Fund. He felt that he was “not landing”, “I still want to start a business, and I really want to know how large companies do it.” So when Shu Chang quit and went to Legend Holdings, he said to the leader: “Actually, I want to start a business. I came to learn.” When he arrived at Lenovo, Shu Chang put down his package and began to go to the grassroots level for research: two months, four provinces, I was busy until the first day of the Chinese New Year, and the research report I came up with was greatly appreciated by Liu Chuanzhi and Lenovo executives. Shu Chang has also led a team of 20 people to invest nearly 100 million dollars in large projects, build dozens of pages of financial models, and do complex Excel. These basic skills are first-class. As a result, Shu Chang was promoted to the VP of investment of Legend Holdings in just one year, and became a “person who can fight tough battles” in the eyes of leading colleagues.

No matter how good the workplace momentum is, it hasn’t shaken the original intention. With the continuous encouraging news from Space X and the continuous understanding of corporate management and the Chinese market, the idea of “being a rocket” became clear. Comfortable excitement and mission came—he knew that he had found the “something different, something big” in his heart.

When Shu Chang decided to leave Lenovo, his colleagues were surprised. At that time, born in 1985, he was already the VP of Legend Holdings Investment. His career promotion went smoothly, his colleagues got along with each other happily, and he had a lot of room for display. When eating a loose meal, several MDs surrounded him and persuaded him: Don’t go, look at you, 30 years old, newly promoted job, great platform, one-and-a-half-year-old daughter… Why do you want to leave? What? So, Shu Chang talked about the powerful magnet that attracted him to leave. It was the real crown in his heart: he was going to be a rocket.

Shu Chang’s undergraduate science is aircraft design. Even so, he did not dare to imagine that a group of small partners could build rockets. Space X awakened him. “People thought it had a huge investment. In fact, from 2002 to 2008, the total investment was only 100 million U.S. dollars. People thought it was developed by NASA’s support, but in fact, it was done in private companies in the United States before 2006. It was unable to accept NASA’s launch orders until the United States revised the law in 2006… In fact, Space X faced a very bad situation in the early days. At that time, the United States was also a state monopoly. Boeing and Lockheed Martin had the most advanced technology. Therefore, Space X has become a typical capital intensive (capital intensive), long term investment (long term investment)……”

Because of the difficulties, the emergence of Space X appears to be full of mythology and heroism, rekindling the aerospace dreams of many people as a child, and the domestic private market has also begun to gear up.

The first reaction is in the satellite market. In the past, satellites were managed by military products. In November last year, the policy clearly encouraged private companies to enter the satellite market. China’s satellite market was completely liberalized-anyone can build satellites, apply for launch, and go to space without obstacles. As a result, domestic private satellite startup companies have sprung up. As an investor in the past few years, Shu Chang himself has received no less than 10 satellite startup BPs-but they all say: “I want to cooperate with space X”… They are all satellites, who is the rocket? Can’t all satellites of the world be launched on Space X? Shu Chang couldn’t help thinking: In which country might the next private company that can compete with it appear?

III

Private enterprises want to build rockets, they need many prerequisites: they need the country to have an industrial foundation and be able to buy various parts. China Aerospace has accumulated for 60 years, which is in line with it; the market needs to be large enough. Rocket is a Niche market (market segment), and it needs to have enough satellite companies to support its future orders. China’s private satellite companies have sprung up, which meets the requirements; it requires low labor costs. China has a much higher number of engineers than the United States and cheap labor costs, which is in line with it; it needs policy protection. China and the United States are mutually independent markets. Space X currently does not have a Chinese business. Because both countries have policy requirements, the United States does not allow Space X rockets to be shipped to China, and Chinese satellites are not allowed to launch in the United States, so there is an opportunity for China.

Need a future. Space X has a very important order to deliver goods to the International Space Station. China will build its own space station in 2022. After that, it will continue to deliver goods to the International Space Station. The US International Space Station will be decommissioned in 2024. If other countries do not develop, China is likely to become the only country with a space station. Therefore, Shu Chang made a judgment: The next private company that can compete with Space X is most likely and most likely to be born in China.
